USBC NEWS: Open Championships Weekly Glance from Baton Rouge

California bowler rolls 300 in debut at USBC Open Championships
Kaven Massey of Mission Viejo, California, has only been bowling for two and a half years, but the 20-year-old two-hander showed he was ahead of the curve during his debut at the United States Bowling Congress Open Championships on April 19, rolling a 300 game in singles.

Massey became the seventh competitor to bowl a perfect game at the Raising Cane’s River Center in 2025, and he delivered games of 300, 189 and 166 during the set for a 655 series.

Prior to his singles set, he had games of 238, 224 and 276 in doubles for a 738 series. Massey started Game 3 with eight strikes, before leaving a 3-6-10 in the ninth frame.

He added 553 in team to close his first appearance at the USBC Open Championships with an all-events score of 1,946.

Fisher returns to Open Championships, makes run in Regular Singles
Nicholas Fisher of Palm Bay, Florida, paired with former Team USA member Shawn Evans of Titusville, Florida, at the 2024 USBC Open Championships, and the duo posted the sixth-highest score in tournament history to claim their first Eagles with a 1,531 total in Regular Doubles.

Fisher, 20, returned to the tournament this week in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and put together another memorable performance as he moved into the top five of Regular Singles with a 769 series.

The talented right-hander had games of 269, 266 and 234 to take over fourth place. Jeffrey Grego of Fort Wayne, Indiana, leads Regular Singles with 786.
